Australia
The Australian market is becoming more and more interesting for the global solar industry. Even though the installed capacity in 2009 of 70 Megawatt trail behind the market volume of other PV-markets, the country convinces with high irradiation values. EPIA sees in the Australian solar market enormous potential for the future and particularly regards the segment for small scale PV-plants as an attractive market segment.
The Australian feed-in-tariff system is segmented in four regions. The highest compensation is granted in the Northern Australian costal area, the lowest feed in tariff applies to the Melbourne region. The Australian compensation model focuses on small scale PV-plants. Hence, it is expected that particularly in the outback areas the importance of large scale projects will increase. In remote areas isolated applications are likely to gain in importance and to become an important pillar in the Australian energy system.
COLEXON has founded a subsidiary in Australia in Mai 2009. The daughter company COLEXON Australia currently focuses on the project development of small scale roof-top solar power plants and the wholesale of solar modules as well as solar-systems.
