Latest news on the EEG (Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz - Renewable Energy Act)
The month of March has also been marked by discussions about the future compensation for electricity fed into the grid. The version that the coalition committee agreed to on February 23 was approved by the parliamentary groups on March 3. But the debate did not come to an end with that.
The decision of February 23 provoked further discussions in the individual federal states of Germany and therefore in the Bundesrat (upper house of parliament), too. There were more rumors about a reduction of the feed-in compensation for open-site systems but not until October. Others are voicing the opinion that the whole solution that has already been passed is open for debate again.
This situation is extremely unsatisfactory for all participants in the market and is leading to irrational behavior on the part of everyone involved. There is no security of planning of the sort required to build solar power plants that will supply environmentally friendly energy reliably for at least 20 years.
When we went to press, there had been no definitive statement from the politicians involved.
